Step ::1 Go to the start menu and type system restore in the search box.
The System Restore wizard opens. The “Recommended Restore” options includes undoing the installation of the most recent drivers, updates, or programs.
If your problem is occurring for, lets say a couple of days, it is advised to select “Choose a different restore point” option. You can choose either of this options by selecting your choice. On choosing “Recommended Restore” click on “Scan affected programs” and then go to step 3. Else proceed with Next.
Step ::2 On choosing “Choose a different restore point” a list of a number of restore points appears with their corresponding description and type of the task that the operating system was performing at that particular instant of time. Choose a restore point that is a couple of days back from the date you are encountering a problem, i.e., a time where everything was functioning properly.
If this criteria doesn’t match with those on the list you can always look up more restore points by clicking on “Show more restore points”. Select a restore point satisfying the above criteria and then click on “Scan affected programs”.
Step ::3 Scanning affected programs brings you up with a list of some programs that will be affected by the system restore like programs, updates or drivers that will be deleted or restored.
However some of the restored ones may not work properly and would need a simple re-installation by the user. You can always go back and choose a different restore point if you feel the affected programs list contains some programs that you would not like to be modified. It may not be always possible to find a restore point where nothing will be affected on system restore.Thus you have to select one that affects you the least. Make your choice and click ‘Finish’.
Step ::4 Confirm “Yes” on the dialog box that appears saying that the system restore process cannot be canceled until it’s been fully completed.
On doing so, the restoration of your operating system kicks off. A number of messages will flash showing deletion and restoration of different programs. Then the computer takes a restart.
On resuming, you are informed that the System Restore process has been completed successfully and the system has been restored to the date and time you had chosen. Your operating system will now work as it was at the time it was restored to. Your data and documents remain unmodified. However, some programs that have been modified will need a simple re-installation.
Your Operating System has been completely restored by using a System Restore Point.
