How often do you experience the sudden crash of Google Chrome or unexpectedly low-speed of your Chrome browser? If occasionally, it’s okay, but if you often experience these problems; you need to look for the causes and its solution.

The most common reasons for the slow speed of Chrome include the browsing data, unnecessary plugins and extensions in your browser. These reasons slow down the browsing speed and can often make the browser crashed. I am a heavy internet user and thus often experience this problem. Here’s how did I speed up Google Chrome and fix the issue.

As I mentioned above, the unnecessary plugins and extensions contribute greatly in slowing down the browsing speed of Chrome. Deleting the unwanted browsing data, extensions and disabling the plugins can help you speed up browsing in Google Chrome and avoid the frequent crash.

Disable Plugins to Speed Up Chrome

When we install Google Chrome in our system, many unnecessary plugins are installed and enabled automatically. Although most of the plugin are necessary to run Google Chrome smoothly, but the unnecessary plugins also slow down the speed. You can easily disable these unwanted plugins. Refer to the screenshots below to know how to disable the unwanted plugins in Chrome.

Open a new tab and type “about:plugins” in the address bar. This will take you to the long list of plugins enabled in your Chrome browser.

Check the list carefully and disable the plugins which you feel useless. You can only disable the plugins and never delete them. Just click on ‘Disable’ and the unnecessary plugins should be disabled.

Clear Browsing Data to Maximize the Speed

When we browse the web, our browser collects the cached texts, cookies, browsing history and other website data. When this cache database and download history becomes very large, it slows down the browsing speed.

Although the cache files are meant to improve your browsing experience by caching website data locally, it slows down the browser having too much stored cache file.

Click on the ‘Control and customize Chrome’ button on the top right corner of your Chrome browser and choose Tools > Clear Browsing Data, this will open a new dialog box.
