This new operating system from Microsoft comes with many interesting features. One of such feature is Windows 8 Lock Screen. I don’t think there should be any importance of the Lock Screen for Desktop. Obviously, it would make more sense for the Tablets.
However, if you like to make things easier like me, you would like to disable the lock screen permanently for Windows 8 in your desktop. This article will guide you on how to remove Windows 8 Lock screen.

You can do that by any of the following procedures:
1. Editing the Local Group Policy .
2. Applying a simple registry tweak.
If you are using the Windows 8 Professional, you can easily Edit the Group Policy. Or, you’ll have to opt for the Registry tweak.

Editing Local Group Policy to disable Lock screen in windows 8

If your system does not allow to ope the Group Policy Editor, you can disable the lockscreen using Registry Editor. To open the Registry editor, type “regedit” into the “Run” command box (Win + R) and hit “Enter”.
Navigate to the following path from the left side of the registry editor:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsPersonalization

If you cannot find the key “Personalization” under the “Windows” key, right-click on the “Windows” key and select “New > Key” and give the name as “Personalization”.

Now, select “Personalization” and right-click on the empty space at the right side to create a new DWORD value (New > DWORD). Give the name as NoLockScreen.

Double-click the NoLockScreen value and put 1 as value data. Click OK.

You are done. If you ever wish to re-enable the lock screen, just set the NoLockScreenvalue as 0.
Don’t want to edit registry manually? Don’t worry, Just download the following zipped file and extract it at any where in your computer.
The above file contains two registry key files: Disable_Lock_Screen.Reg andEnable_Lock_Screen.Reg. The names suggest the functionality of each file. So, double-click the appropriate file to disable or enable the lock screen. After double-clicking the registry key files, you may get a message like this:

Click “Yes” and you are done!!
