Common Windows 10 Technical Preview Installation Errors
Disk controller issue in BIOS:
During the first phase of installation on disk, you might come across an error message that states “Windows can’t be installed on drive 0 partition 1. This computer’s hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk’s controller is enabled in the computer’s BIOS menu.”
Solution: To eliminate this error, simply make sure the Sata controller in BIOS menu is set to ‘AHCI’ and try the installation process again.
Operating System not Working at all or Working at Snail’s Speed
Most of the times, Windows 10 malfunctioning or speed issues would be due to the installation of updates.
Most of the times, Windows 10 malfunctioning or speed issues would be due to the installation of updates.
Solution: It is best to remove the updates and check if the OS works fine again. One can achieve this by using the “System Restore” option. But, if this option doesn’t work, then, Microsoft has provided yet another useful feature that will not even revert the PC settings. One can even resolve this update related problems by uninstalling Windows 10 preview updates. For this purpose, you simply have to do the following:
1. From Start Menu, through shutdown icon, you can try “Shift + Restart” to load advanced startup menu upon restart. Kindly note that the OS would not load with this option.
2. After troubleshooting and refreshing the laptop or PC, one can opt for “Uninstall Preview updates”.
3. Another restart occurs and you can then complete the uninstallation of all preview updates for your Windows 10 TP.

CPU speed error
Even if you meet the minimum hardware and speed requirements for Windows 10 TP installation process, you might come across an error message that states “This PC can’t run Windows Technical Preview. Your PC’s CPU speed is less than 1 GHz so you won’t be able to install and run Windows Technical Preview.”

Solution: Temporarily disable “C states” and “Turbo Boost” setting in your BIOS menu and enjoy error-free installation. Do not forget to enable them again after successful installation is achieved.
The above are some of the potential Windows 10 installation bugs or issues or errors (whatever you may call them). I have discussed them here so that they could prove useful to users who are yet to install the Windows 10 TP. The final release of Windows 10 is still quite a while away and so for the time being we can keep ourselves satisfied with this initial preview version of Windows 10.
Kindly share any other installation errors that you may have encountered below so as to make this post a pretty exhaustive one!
