The way out in detail :

2. The registry editor opens up. Now just follow the given path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAuthenticationLogonUIBackground
3. Search for the key “OEMBackground”. In case you do not find it, right-click on the right half of the window and click on “New” and then select “DWORD (32-bit) Value” to create one. Now give that key the name as “OEMBackground”.
4. Having done with the above open “OEMBackground” by double clicking on it or by right clicking it and then choose the option “Modify”.
5. The Edit DWORD window opens up. In this window change the “Value data” field to 1 and press OK.
6. The next step requires you to open Windows Explorer and then follow the mentioned path:
[windows drive letter]:windowssytem32oobe
Having reached until here search for a folder named “Info” and inside it another folder“backgrounds“. If you are unable to find any of the folders, you should create both of them first.
7. Select the image you want as your logon screen background and then copy the image into the backgrounds folder that you just created. You should always keep in mind one thing that your selected image must be less than 256KB in size and should have a file extension jpg.
8. In the next step you should rename the image as “backgroundDefault.jpg” and in case the image dimensions are different to that of the screen resolution that you are using then the image will be auto adjusted to the fit the screen.
9. Nevertheless there is an easy way out for this problem regarding resolution. You have the facility to add upto 12 different files of different resolutions to negate this anomaly. The file names should be backgroundXXXXXX.jpg where the XXXXXX refers to the image dimensions. The supported file sizes with proper file names are listed below :
- backgroundDefault.jpg
- background768×1280.jpg
- background900×1440.jpg
- background960×1280.jpg

- background1360×768.jpg
Changing the Button Set :
It may be so that the buttons of the logon screen does not match with the newly selected background rather they look dull in comparison to the background. In that case you may try altering the set of button color and texts to match it with the image. Follow the guidelines below to make the desired changes.
1. Open Registry Editor. Open Run (Windows key + R) and type “regedit” and then pressEnter.
2. Navigate through the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAuthenticationLogonUI
3. Having done with the above create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value here and name it ButtonSet.
4. Now change its value to either 1 (darker text shadows and lighter buttons, meant for lighter backgrounds) or 2 (no text shadows and opaque buttons, this one for darker backgrounds); 0 is the Windows default. To change the DWORD value right-click on the DWORD value and select Modify.
You need to reboot your computer to make the changes take effect. After restarting you should be having your desired logon screen and you desired button set.
Note: The above procedure is about to change your registry. So keep the backup of registry before editing it.
